Description

Woodhouse Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with origins dating back to at least the 13th century, although it was rebuilt after a fire in 1806. The building is constructed from ham stone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a concrete tile roof with stepped coped gables and stone chimney stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-bay south elevation.

The south elevation includes hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with four-centre-arched lights; the outer bays have four-light windows while the second bay has a three-light window on the ground floor. Above, there are similar but plain chamfered mullioned windows, all lacking labels, but featuring horizontal glazing bars and internal ferramenta between the first and second bays. There is a six-panel door, accessed by four steps, set in a coped gabled ashlar porch with a cambered outer arch. A blocked four-centre-arched doorway is located between the second and third bays.

On the west gable, there is a projecting chimney stack with a mullioned window in the attic and a sash window on the first floor. Attached to this gable is a range of lower two-storey farm buildings, including stables, which are likely of a slightly later date. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have window shutters and an original staircase.
