Description
1-12 Bath Place is a row of commercial properties dating from the 18th century. The front elevation, facing Bath Place, has shop fronts at street level. These fronts incorporate panelled pilasters with fluted details and half-glazed doors, alongside shop windows featuring five panes over a solid stallriser. A wooden entablature runs across the front of each property, with a transom light of octagonal panes forming the frieze. Above the shops, at first-floor level, are sash windows with twelve panes. The attic has a blind, sunken panel and a cornice at the top of the wall. Numbers 6 and 7 display a different design, featuring three round arches at ground floor level; the central arch contains a sash window, with a semi-glazed door to its right and a passage entry to the left. The rear of the building has attic dormer windows with casement lights and flat roofs. Several properties have projecting wings with either gabled or flat roofs, built over what were formerly back yards or gardens.
