Description
The Stone Cider Mill, dating from the 17th century, is located in the garden between the Public Library and Somerset College of Art. Previously owned by Taunton Cider Co Ltd, it was moved to its current site in 1971. The mill features a large circular stone trough divided into two halves, which are held together by metal clamps. At the center, there is a raised stone section with a socket that accommodates the turning mechanism for the quern. A large wooden axle, which supports the quern stone, rests within the trough. This structure is part of a group of listed buildings in Bath Place and Corporation Street, enhancing the historical context of the area.
