Description

Langford Mill is a former mill dating to 1822, as indicated by a dated plaque on the south-east facade. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone, with dressings on the south-west end featuring quoins. The roof is covered in Cotswold stone slates, and the building has segmental brick arches. A brick end stack is located on the north side. The mill range is long, with three main storeys, an attic, and a lower ground floor, featuring eight windows, most of which are modern multi-pane casements. The south-west end has five hauling bays with plain wooden doors. A plain board door leads up a flight of brick steps from the left-hand end bay. The lower ground floor has a large brick arch in the centre, with a carved stone panel inset above, and two similar arches at the right-hand end, also with carved stone panels above. These carvings appear to be medieval and possibly originate from the ruins of Kingswood Abbey. The interior features a cast iron column structure.
