Description
Hinton Villa is an early 19th-century house located on Oxen Road in Crewkerne. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone, featuring a Ham Hill stone plinth, doorcase, and quoins. The right gable end has stepped stone coping, and there are brick stacks on both gable ends. The house has a double-depth plan with a late 19th-century rear extension and stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window range. All front windows are three-light casements with two panes each, set under flat gauged stone arches. The doorcase is stepped and elliptical-arched, with imposts, and includes a six-panel door fitted with a Regency-style knocker and a fanlight that has four radiating panes.
To the left of the house, there is a long English-bond brick wall that connects to a coursed limestone rubble revetment wall in front of the house. This wall supports pointed railings and a matching gate. On the right side, the wall rises to meet a higher brick wall that has Ham Hill stone coping. At the rear of the house, there are tall brick piers topped with Ham Hill stone caps. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
