Description
4 and 6 Oxen Road are two houses, likely originally a single house, dating from the early 19th century. They are built of squared limestone rubble, featuring Ham Hill stone door lintels and jambs on No.6. The houses have a single-depth plan with rear extensions and stand two storeys tall with a two-window range.
No.4, on the right, has stone surrounds around its 2/2-pane sash windows with margin panes, and a 20th-century door to the left. No.6, on the left, features three-light casements to the left and a two-light casement above the door, all with three panes in each light. The six-panel door, which is glazed at the top, is set back with a lintel above it.
Inside, No.4 has been completely altered, while No.6 retains shutters on the casements, an attic staircase, and wooden lintels over the rear windows. These houses are included for their group value.
