SOUTH PETHERTON CP ST41NW COMPTON DURVILLE 2/97 Pair of cottages about 50 metres north-west of the Dower House

GV II

Pair of cottages. C17 origins, remodelled c1900. Ham stone ashlar facade, coursed rubble to side and rear; Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables, brick end chimney stacks. Two storeys, 2 bays in all. Below, 3-light ovolo-mullioned windows, rectangular leaded, in wave-mould recesses with labels; above, 3-light horizontal-bar casement windows: to left of east house a boarded door in heavy frame with timber and pantiled open porch. C20 windows, both timber and steel casements, to gables, but east gable has one leaded casement to first floor. Extensions to rear. Interior not seen.
