Description
Mid Lambrook Manor is a manor house dating from around 1500, with significant rebuilding in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed from coursed and squared rubble, featuring coped verges and slate roofs, with ashlar stacks. The main range extends east-west, and there is a service wing to the south, creating an L-plan layout.
The main front has a symmetrical arrangement of 2:1:2 bays, with 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned windows that have labels, and each light features a cambered head with casements and glazing bars. A notable feature is the two-storey porch, which has buttresses at the front corners, a very low front-facing gable, a parapet adorned with blind quatrefoils, and a moulded coping. Below the parapet is a string course with large gargoyles. The first floor includes a 3-light window, while the ground floor has a door set in a moulded 4-centred arch, leading to a plank door. There is also a small stair turret on the left return.
The rear of the building continues the style with casements and includes a 4-centred arch door with reused quatrefoil panels above it. At the back, there is a long two-storey wing that features five principal door openings, all with plank doors.
