Description

The Wellington Park War Memorial is a war memorial erected in 1921. It is located on a slightly elevated circular mound and is accessed by four stone steps on its north side, although a postcard from around 1925 indicates that the steps were originally on the west side. The memorial consists of a monolith made of roughly-hewn Cornish granite, which stands on a raised base that is also roughly-hewn. On the west and south faces of the memorial, bronze plaques display dedications in relief lettering: "TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD/ 1914-1918/ NAMES." Additionally, there is another bronze plaque that reads: "TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD/ 1939-1945/ NAMES."

The later 20th-century chain and link fence with wooden posts that surrounds the war memorial is not considered to have special architectural or historic interest and is not included in the listing.
