Description

This is a pair of 18th-century cottages located at 17 and 19 Mantle Street. Number 17 has been refronted in brick and is painted on its right side, while the left side is rendered. Both cottages share a single slate roof and a projecting plinth. Number 19 features a three-light wooden casement window on the first floor, and a small, picturesque bay window on the ground floor with original fixed glazing bars supported by brackets. Number 17 has sash windows. A double door leads into both cottages, rising three steps with panelled reveals. A basement grille is present on the left side. These cottages are included on the list for their group value, along with numbers 17 to 23 (odd), and number 25, which is considered of local interest.
