Description
Waterfall Cottage is a house with an attached outbuilding located on Long Street in Croscombe. The cottage dates from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and some in the 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rubble and features a triple Roman tile roof with coped verges and four brick ridge stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high, displaying three bays to the road front. The first bay on the left has a front-facing gable, while the third bay has a narrow gable and a projecting wing that was formerly a porch. The windows are irregularly arranged, including two and three-light ogee-moulded stone mullioned windows, with two on the first floor that have stopped labels. There is also a later 18th-century 12-pane fixed-light casement on the ground floor and a 20th-century casement. The left side of the cottage features a flat-headed semi-circular bow window with 24 panes on the ground floor, three 2-light casements on the first floor, and a door opening to the left with a 19th-century glazed door. The attached outbuilding to the west is two storeys high, built of random rubble with a pantile roof and coped verge, and has a single 20th-century casement on the first floor.
