Description

These cottages, now two separate dwellings, date from the 16th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed of coursed rubble with a double-Roman tile roof, a coped verge, and a crested ridge. Two brick stacks are visible. Originally designed with a through-passage plan, the cottages now present as single-storey and attic with two storeys, and a 2:1 bay arrangement. On the ground floor to the left is a four-light casement window with a label over; to the right are two 20th-century casements. The first floor features two two-light casement windows and a three-light casement within a gabled dormer. A central door opening has a cambered head with brick voussoirs, leading to a 20th-century plank door. A further door is located at the rear. The left return has two lancet windows pierced through a single slab of stone, acting as a stair-light. Inside, features include a fireplace with a carved wooden bressumer, a winder staircase, and ceiling beams.
