Description

The lamp post in front of No. 9 Whittox Lane was created between 1901 and 1904 by the local metal firm of Singers. It features a cast-iron standard with a crook designed to suspend lamps, which is adorned with art-nouveau style ornamentation. This lamp post has been adapted for town lighting and represents an early provincial example of electrification.
