Description
The United Reformed Church, along with its railings and gatepiers, is located on Whittox Lane and dates from 1810 and 1888. It is designed in the North Italian round arch style and constructed of ashlar with grooved end piers. The church features a gable front with a Lombard band and arcading, as well as a blind traceried oculus. There are three first-floor windows adorned with red sandstone nook shafts and Venetian tracery. The building includes a projecting hipped narthex with a central gable and two outer gables, which are accessed from the sides. The central gable has an archway supported by pink granite columns with leaf capitals, with the dates 1810 and 1888 displayed above. The structure consists of a four-bay, two-storey vessel and a lower five-bay hall at the rear, likely part of the original 1810 construction. In front of the church, there are railings and gates set against a dwarf wall with seven piers.
