Description

No. 6 Whittox Lane is an 18th-century building, altered in the mid-19th century. It is two and a half storeys high, constructed of rubble with a gable end projecting forward into the street, ahead of No. 7. The building features quoins, as well as traces of ground and first-floor bands, and a central window. It has a pantile roof. There is a range of windows to the gable end, with block dressings, and glazing bars on the first floor. A doorway is situated on the right-hand side, featuring a 19th-century moulded cornice and a half-glazed door. A return window is present on the right side of the building; the ground floor window has an 18th-century glazing bar sash with a simple architrave and keystone, while the first-floor window has an edge-bead surround. A pitched path is located in front of the building, which forms part of a pleasant group with Nos. 6-15 Whittox Lane and No. 21 (Melrose House).
