Description

The building consists of a shop, known as Gribble Booth and Taylor, and a house to the north, located on The Green. It dates from the 19th century and is constructed from near-ashlar ham stone with a double Roman clay tile roof that features a stepped coped gable at the south and an abutment to the north. The building has brick chimney stacks.

The house is two storeys high and has two bays facing The Green. It features two-light windows with various types of casements, and a 19th-century panelled door situated between the bays, which is set in a timber lattice porch. The shop, also two storeys, has a single bay in the south gable. It includes an early 20th-century shopfront with a central glazed door beneath a slim fascia that has a hood supported by console brackets. Above this, there is a two-light casement window set under a stone lintel with a false keystone, along with a small rectangular vent panel near the gable crown.

Approximately two metres east of the house, there are spearpoint railings on a low stone wall base, which return to the north-east corner and the south-east corner by the shop. These railings include a later gate opposite the door and contribute to the setting of the house and the overall streetscape of The Green.
