Description
Chadwell and Hanmer Village Stores is a two-storey building featuring a five-window range, constructed of brick with a slate roof and three rebuilt brick stacks. The structure includes an earlier two-window house on the left, which has a central entrance that is now blocked. The central and right sections house a later addition that serves as a shop, positioned to the right of centre. The shop features half-glazed panel doors with margin lights, topped by a margin-glazed overlight. It has replacement plain shop windows framed by panelled pilasters and a cornice.
The entrance to the house is slightly offset to the left of centre, featuring a panelled door with a four-pane overlight set in a panelled doorcase. To the left of this entrance, the earlier section displays three-light casement windows on both storeys, with segmental heads and smaller windows in the upper storey. In the later section, there is a three-light casement window at the right end of the lower storey. The upper storey above the shop has a two-light window and two three-light casement windows. Between the shop window and the house, there is a cast iron letter box from the reign of George VI, made by Allen & Co of London.
The right gable end features inserted doors and windows, and there is a parallel rear wing behind the main structure.
