Description
This listing describes a barn, walls enclosing a garden, and an outbuilding that are located at the west end of Pitminster Farmhouse. The structures likely date from the 18th century, with the outbuilding being from the early to mid-19th century. The barn features random rubble squared and coursed blue lias on the lower gable end, clay tiled roofs, and coped verges. The walls are made of red brick, with random rubble facing the wall that fronts the road.
The barn is positioned with its gable end facing southwest towards the road. The northwest walls extend around the garden, which includes a coeval summer house at the far end, adjacent to the southeast corner of the barn. This outbuilding connects the group to Pitminster Farmhouse. The walls are only partially visible and include a segmental headed opening in the east corner. The rectangular summer house has a non-pitched slate roof facing the barn. The barn itself has square headed openings to the loft, with some blocked openings, and a square headed door in the gable end. The outbuilding facing the road has two irregularly placed square headed openings.
Overall, these structures form a cohesive group with the farmhouse, situated on a corner site.
