Description

This is a range of three market stalls attached to the rear of No. 12, also known as the Shambles, located in Crown Square, Kirkbymoorside. Dating from the 18th century, the stalls are constructed of sandstone with timber-framed openings, brick interior walls, and a pantile roof with brick stacks. They are single storey, with each stall featuring a ledge and a battened stable door to the left of an open shop window. The openings beneath the eaves of each stall are closed off by diagonal trellis. The central stall is the most complete, while the stalls on either side have been modified.
