Description
No. 11 Crown Square is an inn that has been converted into a house, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later alterations. The building is constructed of orange-red brick on a stone plinth, with rendered brick at the rear and sandstone dressings. It features a pantile roof and has a central stairhall plan that is one and a half rooms deep, with a rear service outshut.
The front of the building is symmetrical with two storeys and three windows. It has raised quoins and a central 20th-century half-glazed and panelled door beneath a rectangular fanlight, flanked by six-pane sash windows. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, all of which have stone sills. Each opening is topped with heavy, plain lintels. The right gable is coped and has a shaped kneeler, and there are stacks at both ends.
