Description
No. 14 Market Place is a house and shop dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations. It has a gable end facing the street and features painted brick on the front, coursed rubble sandstone on the sides, and a pantile roof with a brick stack. The building is three stories tall with an attic and has a single window. It has raised quoins and the ground floor is occupied by a shop front, which includes a half-glazed door to the left of a square bay shop window that has a slender moulded glazing bar. Above this, there is a heavy cornice. The upper two floors have single-pane sashes set in architraves, and there is a moulded string course at the first and attic levels. The gable is coped with a shaped kneeler, and there is a central stack. This property is included for its group value. At the time of inspection, the property was unoccupied.
