Description

This is an 18th-century farmhouse, likely with earlier origins, that was altered in the 19th century. The front is built of dressed sandstone with coursed rubble to the rear, featuring ashlar dressings and a pantile roof. Brick stacks are also present. The building follows a three-cell plan, with a hearth passage and a rear service outshut. The front facade is two stories high and has a four-window arrangement. A panelled door is located to the right of the centre, accessed by stone steps. To the right of the door is a four-light mullion window; to the left are a similar two-light and a three-light mullion window. The arrangement of windows on the first floor is the same, with a two-light mullion window above the door. All window and door openings have heavy, squared architraves with splayed reveals and chamfered mullions. The building has coped gables, and two end and one centre stacks. The rear windows have thin timber lintels. Inside, a massive, square-section beam from the earlier house has been retained in the central room.
