Description

This is a mile-post located approximately 50 metres south of Caldwell Mill Bridge, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape. On the left side, there is a hand pointing right with the inscription "STAINDROP MILES," and on the right side, a hand pointing left with "RICHMOND 9 MILES." At the top, it reads "RICHMOND HD," which stands for Highways Division. This mile-post was erected after the Highways Act of 1888.
