Description

This is a mile-post located opposite the northern end of the drive to Cleasby Grange. It dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. The mile-post has a triangular shape. On the left side, there is a hand pointing to the right with the inscription "RICHMOND 9 MILES." On the right side, there is a hand pointing to the left with the inscription "DARLINGTON 3 MILES." At the top, it reads "RICHMOND H.D." This mile-post was created after the Highways Act of 1888.
