Description

This mile-post, located almost opposite Low Lodge, dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape. On the left side, there is a hand pointing right with the inscription "RICHMOND 2 MILES," while the right side features a hand pointing left with "LUCY CROSS 6 MILES." At the top, it reads "RICHMOND HD" (Highways Division). The mile-post was created after the Highways Act of 1888. The hands indicating the distances were added later and were not originally cast as part of the structure. It is likely that the mile-post has been moved from its original location, now positioned further north.
