Description

Castle Hill House West is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features a rendered exterior and a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical facade with two bays on the left and one bay on the right. The corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins. It has four-pane sash windows, and the right bay is a semi-circular bow that includes a central door flanked by two windows, with three additional windows above, all set in moulded cement surrounds. Below the parapet, there is a string course. The first two bays are adorned with wooden gutter brackets, a shaped kneeler, and ashlar coping, with an ashlar stack on the left. There is a range of dormer windows. The entrance is located on the left return and features a six-panel door within an ashlar surround, complemented by Tuscan pilasters and a distyle portico with half-fluted Doric columns. A single patera is located under the soffit of the frieze, which is reeded at the front and has mutules below the cornice.
