Description

This listing describes three houses and a screen wall located on the south side of Market Place in Middleham, built in the mid to late 18th century. The buildings are rendered with a stone slate roof and consist of three storeys and three bays in total.

On the ground floor, there is a four-pane sash window set in a plain ashlar surround with straight tooling. This is accompanied by a pair of 20th-century doors in stone surrounds, featuring quoined outer jambs and a keystone at the centre of each lintel. Additionally, there is a 20th-century bay window and a glazed door with a segmental bow window that has three simplified Tuscan pilasters supporting a fascia.

The first and second floors have windows in plain surrounds, with the second-floor windows being smaller. The first two bays contain four-pane sashes, while the third bay has casements. The building features a shaped kneeler and ashlar coping on the left side, with stacks located at the ends and between the second and third bays.

To the left, the screen wall above the side entrance supports the continuation of the roof. It includes a quoined doorway with a segmental-arched head on the ground floor, and above it, there is a blind round-headed opening.
