Description
The Stable Door Teashop and Golden Lion Cottage, originally the Golden Lion Inn, dates to 1682 with alterations in the 18th century. The building is rendered with a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high, with three windows on the first floor. The ground floor features a 19th-century segmental bow window, a six-panel door, another 19th-century segmental bow window with sash windows containing glazing bars, and a part-glazed door set within an ashlar surround. This surround has straight tooling, a moulded arris, imposts and slightly-curved inner corners to the lintel. A doorway provides access to the rear yard. The first floor windows are set in plain ashlar surrounds, with two 16-pane sashes and one side-sliding sash window. A plaque displays the inscription 'K 1682 HA'. A brick stack is located between the first two windows, possibly indicating a lobby-entry plan.
