Description
Wigglesworth Hall Farm North is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 15th century, with significant elements from the 17th and 18th centuries, and some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rubble and millstone grit ashlar, topped with a stone slate roof, and features an L-shaped plan. A notable feature is the projecting 15th-century archway, which includes moulded imposts, a segmental arch, and a dripstone. Above this archway, there are remains of a blocked window, while the rest of that section of the building is now missing.
To the left, there is a butt-jointed range that is mainly from the 17th century, consisting of two storeys and three bays. This includes a ground floor five-light chamfered mullioned window with a hoodmould, a similar two-light window, and on the upper floor, a three-light window with a hoodmould and a two-light chamfered mullioned window. The gable ends project and feature stacks on corbels.
Inside, the southern roof has King post trusses with curved braces, while the northern roof has Crown post trusses, with the Crown post extending to the ridge as a King strut, and braces to the collars. These roof bays are numbered 3, 4, and 5 of a larger building.
