Description
Leighton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with some earlier 16th century elements. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar dressings and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It features a chamfered plinth and quoins.
The entrance is a half-glazed door with a stone lintel located between the first and second bays, which contain 20th-century casements with chamfered sills. The third bay has a three-light, 24-pane side-sliding sash window with a projecting sill, and to the right of this is a six-pane side-sliding sash window set in a moulded chamfered surround.
On the first floor, there are three three-light moulded chamfered mullioned windows. The right side of the building has a shaped kneeler and stone coping. There are end stacks and one stack on the ridge. The left side of the building features a three-light traceried window on the ground floor beneath a chamfered string course, a three-light mullioned window with a hood-mould on the first floor, and a two-light mullioned window with a drip-mould in the gable, all of which are blocked.
