Description

Ainderby Myers Manor is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar dressings and has a concrete tile roof. The building has a main range flanked by two gabled wings that project northwards, with a wall and gateway between them.

The north elevation features two storeys and four bays. The quoins are prominent, and the central two bays, which form the south wing, are set back. The ground floor includes a 20th-century lean-to on the south wing, while the left wing has a 20th-century stone gabled one-storey addition and a 20th-century casement window. The right wing has a large 20th-century window.

On the first floor, the left central bay has two side-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, set in a 4-light chamfered mullioned surround, although only the central mullion remains. To its right is a 2-light chamfered mullioned window, and the right wing has a 20th-century casement. The left wing features a 3-light chamfered mullioned window with a hoodmould, and above it in the gable is a blind 2-light chamfered mullion with a hoodmould. The gable has moulded coping, and there is a large ridge stack on the south wing.

Linking the wings is a 17th-century archway to the north, which is semicircular headed and has moulded imposts, an archivolt, and a carved keystone, with spandrels that display armorial shields. Above this archway is a moulded cornice. The left return has three 2-light chamfered mullioned windows on the first floor, while other openings are from the 20th century.

Inside, beneath the large stack, there is a large inglenook fireplace, with niches on either side that have chamfered basket-arched lintels.
