Description

Holtby Hall is a house built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a combination of brick and rubblestone that is rendered, with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays, with an additional three-bay wing at the rear.

The entrance is marked by a central six-panel door topped with a Gothick fanlight, all set within a stone architrave that is supported by moulded consoles and an open pediment. On either side of the entrance, there are full-height bowed bays, each containing three adjoining sash windows with glazing bars, framed in plain architraves.

On the first floor, there is a central sash window with glazing bars in a plain architrave, flanked by similar windows as those below. The second floor features a central unequally hung nine-pane sash in a plain stone surround, with three adjoining unequally hung nine-pane sashes in plain stone surrounds on either side, where the outer sashes are dummy. All windows have projecting sills, and the building is topped with a simple cornice and hipped roofs, which include two ridge stacks.

Inside, there is a large open-well plain stone staircase, and the doors are fitted with reeded architraves. The rooms have plain moulded cornices.
