Description

Cow Bridge is a road bridge, likely built in the late 18th century, with a 19th-century parapet. It is constructed from dressed stone and features a rockfaced stone parapet. The bridge has a single segmental-arched span over the river, with three smaller segmental arches on each bank. Pilasters separate each arch, and additional pilasters flank the main arch. A string course runs along the base of the raked parapet above the central arch. The poor condition of the former bridge was noted by R Carr in 1752.
