Description

Wigglesworth Hall Farm South is a farmhouse dating from around 1690, with later alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared rubble with millstone grit dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building features a central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with five bays. The central entrance has a moulded surround and a plank door, topped by a 2-light chamfered mullioned fanlight. There are four cross windows on the ground floor and five on the upper floor, with 20th-century casements, except for the central upper window, which is blocked. The eaves are shaped with modillions, and there are gable end kneelers and coping, along with a ball finial on the left-hand gable. The gable end has ridge stacks. The left-hand return was rebuilt around 1890 using watershot masonry. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase made of oak from around 1690, featuring a closed string, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail.
