Description
This is a mile-post located approximately 500 metres west of Appleton-le-Street, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale and has a triangular shape with a sloping upper face. The left side of the mile-post indicates "MALTON 4 MILES" beneath a pointing hand, while the right side shows "HELMSLEY 12 MILES" beneath a pointing hand.
