Description

This is a milepost located approximately 400 metres east of Stonegrave Lodge, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale and is constructed from cast iron. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloping upper surface. On the left face, it features the inscription "Malton 11 miles" beneath a pointing hand, while the right face displays "Helmsley 5 miles" also beneath a pointing hand. The manufacturer's name is found on the rear of the milepost.
