Description

This is a milepost located approximately 75 metres south of Hazelbush Cafe, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale and is constructed from cast iron. The milepost has a triangular section with a sloping upper face. On the left side, it features the inscription "Malton 12 miles" below a pointing hand, while the right side displays "York 6 miles" also below a pointing hand. The reverse side includes the manufacturer's name.
