Description

The Old Rectory is a 1865 rectory constructed of polychrome brick with a Welsh slate roof, incorporating bands of fish-scale slates. It features parallel spinal ranges with a pair of gabled cross wings at the front. The main facade has two first-floor windows. A gabled porch, supported by carved capitals, contains a half-glazed door with a fanlight above. To the left of the porch is a pair of plate glass sash windows, placed beneath a parapet decorated with a polychrome diaper motif which continues with the first-floor band. To the right are three small pointed windows set within rubbed brick arches, all beneath a low roof that is hipped to the right. The first floor has a larger left gable, containing a pair of plate glass sash windows beneath a stone lintel and brick relieving arch. To the right of that are two trefoil-headed windows. The gables have coping, and there’s an eaves stack to the left, and a ridge stack to the spinal range.
