Description
This is a milepost located approximately 300 yards east of Field House in Flaxton, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale and is constructed from cast iron. The milepost has a triangular section with a sloping upper face. On the left side, it features the inscription 'Malton 9 miles' below a pointing hand, while the right side displays 'York 9 miles' below a similar pointing hand. The reverse side includes the manufacturer's name.
