Description

This milepost, located approximately 850 metres north-west of Bank Top Farm, dates from the late 19th century and was made by Mattisons of Bedale. It is constructed from cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping upper surface. The left face features the inscription "Malton 13 miles" beneath a pointing hand, while the right face displays "Helmsley 3 miles" also beneath a pointing hand. The manufacturer's name is found on the rear of the milepost.
