Description

This is a mile-post located at the southern end of Balkside, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale. The mile-post has a triangular shape with a sloping upper face. On the left side, it indicates "MALTON 6 MILES" beneath a pointing hand, while the right side shows "HELMSLEY 10 MILES" beneath a pointing hand.
