Description

SE 37 SE DISHFORTH MAIN STREET (east side)

1/21 East View House

GV II

House. Early - mid C18 with later alterations and extensions. Rendered, pantile roof. Baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, standing gable end to street. 6-panel door to right. Small canted-bay window to centre with 4-pane sashes, and another, with sashes with glazing bars, to far left, both underbuilt. First floor: band. 2 side-sliding sashes with glazing bars and one mid-C20 casement. Eaves band and small central section of eaves dentilled. Shaped kneelers, that to left very worn; gable copings; end brick stacks, left stack external. Cottage attached to left, probably former extension, now a separate property and not of special interest. Interior: spine beams to 2 ground-floor rooms; not inspected in detail at resurvey. The alignment of the house with the gable to the street is a rare survival of the medieval tenement plots in this village.
