Description
East View House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later alterations and extensions. It has a rendered exterior and a pantile roof, featuring a baffle-entry plan. The building is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows, with the gable end facing the street. To the right, there is a six-panel door, and in the center, a small canted-bay window with four-pane sashes. To the far left, there is another window with sashes that include glazing bars, both of which are underbuilt. On the first floor, there is a band, two side-sliding sashes with glazing bars, and one mid-20th century casement window. The eaves have a band and a small central section with dentils. The shaped kneelers, particularly the one on the left, are very worn, and there are gable copings with end brick stacks, the left stack being external. There is a cottage attached to the left, which is likely a former extension but is now a separate property and not of special interest. Inside, there are spine beams in two ground-floor rooms, although the interior was not inspected in detail during the resurvey. The alignment of the house, with its gable facing the street, is a rare survival of the medieval tenement plots in this village.
