NORTH YORKSHIRE RICHMONDSHIRE DALTON A66 (south side, off) Pigeoncote approximately15 metres east of former house at Old Dunsa Bank Farm

Privies with pigeoncote above. Mid-late C18. Rubble sandstone with dressed stone dressings, roof missing at time of resurvey. 2 storeys, 1 cell. Quoins. Doorway with dressed stone surround on bases, and with impost blocks, that to left forming quoin, that to left extended to form lintel of small window opening. First floor: semicircular opening with dressed stone surround to pigeon-holes; part ashlar coping. Rear: on each floor a doorway with dressed stone surround, and small ground-floor window. Interior: on ground floor a spine wall dividing earth closets, one for family, the other for farm workers, each with separate access; first-floor nesting boxes. In a state of disrepair at time of resurvey.
