Description
The building is a free-standing dovecote located 500 metres south-south-east of Home Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It features rubble walls with stone door jambs and a conical slate roof, and is circular in plan. The entrance consists of a plank stable-door with a wooden lintel.
Inside, there are pigeon-holes arranged around eight inner faces, made from tiers of planks with bricks used as solid-fill in between. The holes start at approximately 6 feet high and extend up to the wall-plate at around 12 feet. The roof includes two tie beams that are jointed at right angles, with closely-set rafters forming a cone framework, which has been renewed.
