Description

ST 30 SE THORNCOMBE SCHOOLHOUSE 3/86 Schoolhouse Farmhouse, and attached farmbuildings, to south-west 4.12.51 GV II Farmhouse C17 with C18 re-fashioning. Rubble walls with large stone quoins. One stone gable-coping. Asbestos slate roof. Two brick stacks, at right gable and just right of front door. Two storeys. Five windows. Stone-mullioned with iron frames and some wooden frames. Plank door with good, stone classical, eared architrave, plain ovolo frieze and pediment, C18. Oval window above with stone ovolo-moulded frame and original pattern of glazing-bars. Interior: Deep-chamfered beams. Fluted doorcased C18. Tudor-arched stone fireplace with straight chamfer. Attached at right-angles. Stables with loft over; barn continuous with stables has tie-beam and collars. Return wing enclosing yard: cart-shed. Corrugated-iron roof with half-hips.
