Description
Lower Hewood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century, as indicated by the date on the front door keystone, W.B. 1856. The building features rubble walls with stone quoins and a thatched roof. There are brick stacks located at the left gable and just to the right of the front door. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has six windows, which are casements with cast-iron and some wooden frames, along with renewed cills. The 19th-century brick dressings include gauged brick arches and projecting keys. The entrance is marked by a plank door, and there is a 20th-century heavy stepped buttress.
