Description
The Bottle Inn is a public house dating from around the 18th century. It features rubble walls that are rendered and colour washed, topped with a thatch roof that has one gable end and one half-hipped end. There is a rendered brick stack at the gable end. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, which are casements with wooden frames and glazing bars, some of which contain old glass. The front door, which is two-leaf, is located to the right of centre.
Inside, the left-hand bar includes a large open fireplace with shallow-chamfered jambs that are stopped, and a triangular head for the bread oven. There is also a large open-framed wooden storage shelf attached to the ceiling between the fireplace lintel and the ceiling beam, featuring eight ovolo-moulded slats. This shelf is approximately 10 inches deep and has a hinged door, serving as a ham storer. Additionally, there is an inglenook settle present.
