Description
Backwell Cottage and the attached cottage to the left are two connected cottages dating from the early 19th century, possibly earlier. They feature rubble and brick walls with brick quoins. The roof is made of bitumenized slate, with a half hip on the left side and a gable end on the right side. There are two brick stacks, one rendered, located at the right gable and the other at the center of the left cottage on the ridge. The buildings are two storeys high and have four windows, which are casements with cast-iron glazing bars and catches, and they contain old glass panes. The windows have wooden lintels and cills. The right-hand cottage has a plank door located at the center, which is framed by a brick porch with a pentice slate roof from the 19th century. The left-hand cottage features a 20th-century front door and porch, positioned to the right of center.
