Description
Thimble Cottage and Yew Tree Cottage are two attached cottages dating from the 17th or 18th century. They feature rubble walls with roughcast and a corrugated iron roof that has gabled and half-hipped ends. There are two brick stacks at the ridge. The cottages are two storeys high and have five windows: Thimble Cottage has 20th-century metal-framed casements, while Yew Tree Cottage has 19th-century wooden casements with glazing bars. Both cottages have two plank doors and roughcast porches, one of which is gabled and the other is a pentice. Inside Thimble Cottage, there is a heavy-chamfered ceiling beam. At the rear of Yew Tree Cottage, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed wing. The range of cottages is positioned at right angles to the road and to Backwell Cottage. They are included for their group value.
