Description

The Old Chapel is a mid-18th century dissenting chapel, later converted into a house in 1932. It is constructed of rubble walls with brick quoins, featuring stone copings to the gable ends and a slate roof with two 20th-century rubble stacks located on the ridge, slightly inward from the gable ends. The building is single-storied with cellars beneath. It has two windows of Palladian design, with wooden frames containing small rectangular leaded lights. The central windows are round-headed with arcuated leaded glass. The front elevation is symmetrical, accessed by balanced stone stair flights leading to a plank door with a round head. Further brick jambs and voussoirs detail the gable-end windows, contributing to the Palladian composition of the central section.
